Changing Times!!

Have you ever been in a space in your life when you questioned your beliefs? Or maybe, had a feeling that suggests you probably have been misled by your ideologies and popular philosophies about life. You probably, haven’t you?

If you’re anything like me, in these moments where it seems as though you’re caught in your web, you lose track of time, lose touch with friends, and become overly obsessed with work, and anything that can replace the feelings you’re trying to hide from.

You question your essence and purpose, you begin to experiment, hoping to find a new meaning. I know how this feels, I’ve been there many times; I left that space not too long ago.

Managing our emotions and our attitude, especially in times when we are not in control of our life can be hard sometimes. Imagine a ship without its helm or an aircraft with a broken rudder, it becomes vulnerable, and at the mercy of disturbed waters and angry wind. This is our situation when we lose control of life and are unable to manage our emotions or become unsure about what we thought we believe.

The progressive nature of time and knowledge makes some understanding inconsistent with our ideologies. Do we transition with time and become who we never imagined we would become, or do we lag and allow time to fly without us, holding onto our accustomed understandings.

The narratives are changing and we’re stuck in the middle of time. What we knew to be true are now glaringly becoming lies and nothing but mere products of human constructs without solid foundations. People say it’s either black or white but we know that isn’t always the story, we have seen truths in different shades, and all, compelling enough to make us believe.

Most of us have been misled all our lives by the narratives we have heard and accepted, we even became champions, staging many fronts to create influence. “My generation loves be in control of the narratives, too many influencers leading us astray”. Are we wrong to question what other people want us to believe? What do you call a man who is not in a hurry to accept popular opinion? A resistance? Or just too conscious for you?

If there’s anything that deserves more attention and greater importance than what we believe, it is perhaps, why we believe what we believe. The motivations of our belief system, as subtle as they seem, are the factors that determine truth and lies.

The world has seen and survived many wars and will continue to do so. We have mastered the art of putting up stronger defense in times of physical combats. We build walls and equip our arsenal with sophisticated weapons that are able to do great harms that can only be imagined.

But when it comes to ideological combats, where all other forms of war originate, we show up unprepared and ready to take any blows that comes. We hope to survive somehow, anyhow.

Times are changing we must too. New ideologies are coming, we must be ready to challenge the story. These story tellers will do all they can to convince us, we must be able to say why we resist them or why we join them.

Some things should be left to chance to decide, but what you believe and why you believe isn’t one of such. Get ready for the changing times.
